Turkey Dog Food Recipe - Making Use of Thanksgiving Leftovers!
Posted by Clare Bristow

I hope all our readers from the United States had a good Thanksgiving. If you were celebrating yesterday, I expect you have plenty of left overs, so I thought I'd post a homemade dog food recipe that makes good use of them!
The recipe - The Day After Turkey Omelet - works equally well with chicken, so you can make it for your dog any time of the year.
The Day After Turkey Omelet
Ingredients:
- 1 egg
- 1-2 tbsp. mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup diced cooked turkey meat
- 1/2 cup cooked vegetables, chopped
- 1/4 cup grated cheese
Method:
- Gently heat a small amount of olive oil in a frying pan;
- Whisk the egg and potatoes together, then spread in the pan;
- Mix the turkey and vegetables together, and place over the potato mixture;
- Cover the pan and cook until the egg is cooked;
- Sprinkle the cheese on top of the omelet and cook for a couple more minutes until the cheese has melted.
Serving:
- Once the omelet has cooled, cut it into slices before giving to your dog; or
- Use the omelet as an extra special stuffing for your dog's kong!
The Day After Omelet is one of over 80 home made dog food recipes that are contained in the Dog Cook's Healthy Pooch Cookbook - a bargain at $4.99.
If you've got any Thanksgiving left-over recipes you'd like to share, we'd love to hear from you.
