Michael Vick's Dogs - How are They Doing?

Posted by Clare Bristow

If the following videos are anything to go by, they seem to be doing pretty well.

49 of the dogs recovered from Michael Vick's property in Virginia are now in sanctuaries and rescue groups being rehabilitated for adoption.

Considering these dogs spent almost eight months in shelters and dog pounds before going to their new foster homes in January this year they appear to be adapting to their new life very well.

Excuse me for the indulgence but here are 4 short videos showing the great work BAD RAP (the pit bull rescue and education group Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pit bulls based in Oakland California) and foster parents have done in rehabilitating Hector, Jonny Justice, Uba and Ernie.

Hector:

Jonny Justice:

Uba:

Ernie:

Here's an article that appeared in SFGate.com yesterday telling you a bit more about Vick's dogs. Towards the end of the article Hector's foster Mum says that Hector's now learning the simple pleasures of a blanket at bedtime, a peanut butter-filled chew toy and listening to classical music - what dog doesn't deserve to experience these in it's life?

i think that is is wonderful that so many of the vick dogs are doing well and i think he should have gotten a whole lot more time than he did because what he did to those dogs is unreal. i wonder how he would fee being forced to fight just to survive.

Thanks for your comment Heather; it is good that the dogs have been given a second chance. If only all rescue dogs were so lucky.

It pleases me to see these dogs doing so well. It only proves that again, Breed Specific Leg. is horrific and so wrong. The abuse these dogs have endured at man's hands, yet they can still love us. They are amazing. Dog fighting is cruel and unaceptable, any one with any honour will report it, as it needs to be stopped.

Pit bulls are people loving dogs, when responsible dog ownership is in place.

Thank Goodness SOMEONE finally exposed Vick for being one of the many Monsters who allow ALL these poor dogs to die in such horrific ways. If not, most of the dogs shown above would also have been body slammed, shot, electrocuted or whatever else Vick and people like him do to these poor creatures to TRY and FORCE them to fight. It took awhile BUT there is a GOD and Justice did prevail for him AND his dogs. I believe that common sense and Justice will also prevail for the total future abolishment of BSL worldwide.

One day people WILL look back at these times and see BSL for the throwback to a darker age that it is and those that supported it for the sad and misinformed members of society they are.

It is TIME that Politicians started to develop courage and principle. Instead of murdering these animals make the bad owner's of dogs responsible. OH yes, there IS a threat out there BUT for the most part, it is has been and is the animal on the end of the leash with TWO legs.

Thanks Bad Rap for what you do as it gives me hope for mankind.

Isn't it amazing to see these wonderful dogs, doing so well? I hope they all have a wonderful life…and best of all, Vick has to pay for it…

Got something to say?
