Chicken Beaks and Feet - A Real Dog's Treat

japanese-chinMy dogs are very lucky, I fed them ground up chicken carcasses, chicken beaks and feet, and various internal parts from a cow (not meat) as a for being good when they had a bath this weekend.

I wasn't so naive as to expect a product called Basted Beefhide Crunchies to be of high nutritional value, but I did expect it to contain some nutrition!

As the Food and Drug Administration in the United States continues to test the Chinese manufactured dog treats Bestros Chicken Jerky Strips for evidence of melamine contamination, it's about time we paid more attention to the listed ingredients in products.

Fail Proof Training Treats

liver-treat-recipeOne of the things I took away from puppy class was how to make for Zoe - they became an essential part of my dog training kit for the first two years of her life! They worked every time, my recalls with her were 100%.

I don't use treats much for training now, as I've weaned Fritz and Zoe off food rewards for good behavior, but every now and again I take them with me on our walks. When they know I have liver treats with me, they are just that much more attentive to what I ask them to do - talk about dogs operating purely on a 'what's in it for me' basis!

I have yet to find a dog that doesn't like liver, and it might just help you with that recall!

Here's an easy to make for carob biscotti, in fact it's an owner treat too as they taste so good!

Once you've made the biscuits all you need to do is find a good excuse to give you and your dog a treat and enjoy!
