How to Give Your Dog a Pill

Giving your dog medication sounds straightforward, but how many times have you found bits of the pill on the carpet minutes after you think he's successfully swallowed it? You are then faced with the dilemma of whether need to medicate him again as you're not sure how much he's actually ingested!

This 40 second video shows you how to give your dog a pill - and make sure he swallows it!

A trick I use is to blow very gently on my dogs' nostrils as soon as I've put the pill in their mouths - the extra air on their noses cause them to swallow.

However, these tricks may be becoming a thing of the past - Fritz was prescribed with some antibiotics recently for a nose infection, and we couldn't work out why he happily chomped on the pills each time we gave him one. Reading the ingredients we discovered that they were liver flavored!

So, until the day all medicines are liver flavor, I hope this video helps with the tricky problem of getting your dog to swallow a pill:
