Cocoa Mulch Kills Family's Labrador
Posted by Clare Bristow
A chocolate Labrador called Moose has died from eating an unknown quantity of cocoa mulch.
Cocoa Mulch is made from the shells of cocoa beans and is a popular garden mulch not only because it looks attractive, but it's also a good termite deterrent and is known to kill slugs - the bane of any gardener's life.
Unfortunately the mulch also contains theobromine, a substance that's toxic to dogs.

Chocolate Toxicity - how much chocolate can your dog eat?
Posted by Clare Bristow
I don't know about you, but I tend to over-indulge in chocolate at Easter, but apart from feeling guilty about eating so much, thankfully I don't suffer any long term consequences. Unfortunately the same may not be true for your dog if he gets stuck into your Easter eggs. Dog poisoning from the ingestion chocolate accounts for many trips to the vet this time of year.
